Network Marketing’s Secret Ingredient

Network Marketing’s Secret Ingredient

You may not know the name Justin Harrison, but you’ve probably heard of his company… doTERRA essential oils is a household name in the United States and around the world.

People are finding healing and natural relief in these oils…

…And there are 7 million people worldwide who are doTERRA distributors!

In fact, doTERRA is the largest direct sales organization in the country.

What’s the secret to their record-breaking success?

An amazing product is always important, and doTERRA has that. But Justin (who was the very first distributor) credits the company’s rise to something he says makes all the difference:

Company culture.

According to Justin, culture trumps everything. And there are some compelling reasons behind his statement: If a network marketing company is focused on the wrong things, it’s not going to serve either its customers or its distributors well.

You can have a great product, but if people aren’t satisfied with the way the company treats them, it won’t stand.

So what should you look for in a direct sales company? Here are some questions you can ask that will help you understand a company’s culture… the “secret ingredient” of network marketing:

#1. Is the company’s leadership sound?

Justin says to look into who owns the company, and if it’s not someone you can trust, think twice about joining.

Has the company’s owner ever been involved with unsound business practices? Are they qualified to lead a company?

No one wants to work under bad leadership.

#2. Does the company stand for something you can get behind?

Good company culture is built around more than just products and profit. What’s the heart behind the business? Are products sourced in a way that’s fair, legal and honest?

Justin shared that a big part of his devotion to doTERRA lies in the fact that they engage in fair trade. That’s an important detail that allows him to feel good about the essential oils he’s selling.

#3. Do you love the product?

Network marketers are product evangelists…you have to love the product you’re selling.

If you don’t believe in the value of what you’re selling, it’s going to show — and if you’re not willing to get 100% behind a product, why would your customers?

According to Justin, you really do need to be “your own best customer.”

#4. Are people advancing within the company?

Finally, it’s a good idea to look at the structure of the company.

In some network marketing companies, the people at the top are the only ones making money and it’s hard for others to advance.

Other companies are committed to seeing their distributors succeed. They put a lot of effort into making sure that there are opportunities to do well at every level and offer support to those who are just starting out.

If you’re a network marketer or are considering becoming one, these suggestions can help you find a good fit. But it doesn’t stop at network marketing…

The same can be said for any company you are looking to join.

A good fit with the company’s culture goes a long way toward your success!
